Coming into the book, I was excited. Not only because it is somewhat different from what I usually read, but because the author used to substitute for some classes I took back in High School :) Now, don't think for a second that that has made my review biased. Not only was she a great person to begin with, but she's created a great book as well. While the book is lacking a little bit of polish here and there, the theme and general idea is spectacular! I won't spoil things, but the book takes place in Japan during, (which, with the limited knowledge I have) I would assume the Warring States period or some time around that. As most books go, it follows the main character along a journey. However, the path that journey takes, along with the interactions therein, is where things get interesting. The main character is realistic, and the book's duration isn't spent shamelessly fan-servicing the reader like MANY books tend to do. Again, I won't spoil the book. Instead, I encourage you to pick up the book, (it isn't expensive, and is more than worth the cost) and read it for yourself. In terms of efficiency, (dollar cost, time spent and personal enjoyment), this is very much towards the top of books that I've read. After reading this, I will most definitely look forward to anything that the author puts forward in the future :)Product details

TEARS OF THE DRAGON is an action-packed adventure novel filled with the Indiana-Jones-like escapades and the mystic of the Orient. Because this is the second Carol J Parsons' book I've read, my anticipation was ratcheted up high (I really like the last one), and this one did not disappoint!
Michiri embarks on a dangerous mission to end centuries of war. But in doing so she must defy her Emperor father's wishes, commit and act contrary to the will of her people, and risk the loss of eternal love. Her actions are noble, her thoughts are pure, and she is fearless. Her character reminds me a bit of Jen Yu from the movie 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' (minus all the karate stuff).
Carol J Parsons has a magical way of describing place and time. She does so in a manner that really takes you there. In this novel, she elegantly captures the lure of the Far East.
This is a charming tale that will keep you turning pages late into the night, and keep you thinking about long after you've finished it. If you like adventure stories with a strong female heroine, you are going to love TEARS OF THE DRAGON. It’s worth ten stars in my opinion. Since allows five at most, five will have to do.
